    Default Strop Hooks

For those interested, here are a couple of places you can get razor strop hooks - each has a couple of choices by the same manufacturer:

I have one in chrome in my bathroom and it looks and works fine. I didn't want an eye or screw hook, and with a couple of #4 1" screws into the wood behind the sheetrock, it is at least as strong.

I've really got to get around to getting something lke that. At the moment my strop hangs off a custom made coat hanger like thingy on tha back of our bathroom door. Needless to say my wife doesn't appreciate my workmanship or innovative approach.

I use the large size Coffe Cup hooks sold in most of the hardware stores. They screw right into the wood beneath the bathroom counter. The hooks shown here are nice though.

I guess I need to "class up" my hardware!

It may be just a radiator hose clamp, but attach it to the back of a door knob and it works fine!

I made a strop holder from an oak rail mount for a stair rail and a drawer handle I bought building center.

I drilled holes to mount the handle; I then used a keyhole router bit and plunge router to add two sets of keyholes to the back of the wall stop; one for mounting vertically and the other for mounting horizontally.

This seemed to be a good choice for mounting my strop to the wall.

I've got my strop attached to my towel rail using an old key ring. Works OK, but when I need to change sides I have to unwind the whole thing, flip the strop over, then wind it back on.

The wife won't let me within 10 feet of the vanity unit with a drill. I guess that means she must find me sexy...

That's what I just bought today, as a matter of fact. It's even the "safety" variety that has a little clip to keep your cup (or strop) from sliding off.

A large carabiner will easily grip a towel bar. You can get cheap models at dollar stores as key chains or on their own.

We have a pedestal sink that is butted up against a short wall that comes off the main wall. The top of the wall is good for putting toiletries on and the edge of the wall where the stud is is great for lagging and eyehook into. I just got the eye hook and caribiener in stainless steel at the local Home Depot. Make sure if you are going through drywall that your screw is long enough to bite into the stud. Otherwise, you might pull your strop hook out.
