Thanked: 8Retractable Strop
Hi All,
Found this locally, I reckon I can fit a new leather to it. I shall have to take it apart, might even get Tony to make a new one for it.
Very cool I reckon. What do ya think ?

I would think the leather would have to be pretty thin to be able to wrap round such a small spindle. I know the strop I got from Tony is really quite thick and I'd need something about the size of a football to be able to wrap it around.
Looks pretty cool though, a bit ornate to be hanging in my bathroom though. Still trying to convince my missus to put a hook on the side of the cabinet. Don't like my chances of hooking up something that looks a cross between a fishing reel and a chandelier

I think it's a charm. I'd love to see it refurbished.

Thanked: 2I've seen similar ones go for hundreds on ebay. How much did you get it for? Certainly, there is a thinner, more pliable leather that would be suitable for stropping.
If you need help locating the correct leather and hardware, I've got a great shop close by that had all sorts of gear, with no minimum purchase so buying enough for one or two strops is no problem at all.
Great find, indeed.
