Stropping in the middle of third pass ??
Hello All
I started my morning shave with a str8 that was prepped on a linen and leather strop,30 round trips on each.
During the middle of my third pass the str8 started to feel rough on my face.I stopped and stropped approx. 20 trips on the leather and resumed with a much smoother shave.
My questions are,
1. If you are using a razor that has been properly honed and stropped,do you ever have to strop in the middle of your shaves?
2.Does stropping during a shave damage the microscopic teeth on the razor's edge? Do you have to wait 24 hr. before stropping again?
3. If additional stropping smooths out the edge,is it a sign that it time for honing ?
Thanks in Advance for your assistance
FredC.

As long as after stropping you get a smooth shave you don't have to hone it yet..

Hey fcohio. Reasonable questions, but I think you're due for conflicting answers. Here are mine.
1. Only very occasionally.
2. Some argue that, theoretically, it does, but practically it at least doesn't noticeably.
3. Quite the oposite in my experience. It seems it is sometimes the newly honed edge that needs to be trained a little more.
