Obenauf's Leather care
Howdy all,
Just thought I'd share this product I found that works wonders for my strop.
It helps keep the leather soft and supple and protects from water too.
I originally was looking at renaissance wax to protect my razors during storage and I somehow came across this product. I'm glad I ordered because it's great.
Anyways I just thought I'd share. And as always not affiliated with the company just a very happy customer.Shaving_story on Instagram

Did you apply on the face or the back?
How does it affect the draw?
What leather did you apply it to?

I applied the thick paste to the front and worked it in with my hands. They also have an oil that I'm sure I would have added to the strop from behind.
The draw did seem to increase which is ok since I like heavier draw.
The leather I used was English bridle and also a kangaroo strop.
At first I used it only to protect my strops from drying out while I was on vacation but I found the product really works well to condition leather.
As an added benefit it also waterproofs the leather which is good for those who keep the strop in the bathroom.Shaving_story on Instagram

Thanked: 0I assume you are referring to Obenauf's Heavy Duty LP. This product contains natural oils that are suspended in Beeswax and Propolis. Would the Beeswax do any harm to the razors edge?
By the way I've been using Obenauf's Heavy Duty LP on my leather climbing boots for years and it is an excellent product.

Thanked: 1371For years, Obenauf's Leather Oil has been the product of choice for protecting and conditioning my boots.
I've used it on a strop once, and found that it softened the leather too much for my taste.
Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.

Thanked: 0Obenauf's leather oil is not the best choice for a strop nor is it the best choice for boots. The leather oil should be used VERY sparingly and then only on severely dried leather to revive it. I find the HD LP product to be superior for hard working leather like boots or strops.
