Stropless in Toronto
I've been on vacation for the last few weeks in Ontario. Not only did I neglect to bring some shaving soap/cream with me (I've been using Prorasso from the Shoppers Drug Mart and it works, but I don't really like it), but I also discovered that I left my travel paddle strop behind as well. I briefly considered using my kilt belt from my wedding suit, but surely didn't want to take even the remotest chance of nicking it so I have been palm stropping for the last two weeks and I should report that it works like a charm on my 1860's W&B. If anyone hasn't tried it, I think you should. Be careful though, yes?

I'll give it another shot. I've been wondering what you've been up to.

do you have to strop a whole heck of a lot to get palm stropping to work?

I would have given you a strop if I had known! So sorry I didn't check earlier.

Newsprint works like a charm!
There are many roads to sharp.

YES newsprint and palm stroping both do work in a pinch, I"ve used both and found the edge to be very keen.
But then, an SRD strop does feeeeeel so good when stroping a razor!!!
Just a thought!
