Stropping a smile on a paddle?
Well I got my first smiling edge (a Torrey) and was wondering if there is a different technique for stropping it on a paddle strop. I mean other than basic X strokes like I use for a non-smiling edge.

Thanked: 4942The main thing is to insure that the entire edge makes contact with the strop in both directions. If an X stroke is working, that should be all you need. You can do the X strokes at a 45 degree angle which should work as well.

Thanks Lynn. Just 1 follow up question. If I do have to do a 45 X should that be leading with the toe or the heel?
