Thanked: 114My DIY Webbing Paddle Strop
I’ve been experimenting with different pastes on different substrates. Both on hanging strops and paddle strops. The one combination I wanted to try was using the webbing material in a paddle format.
I could have simply glued webbing to some wood, but I wanted to preserve the ability to use the webbing as a hanger if I didn’t like the paddle format.
To make the “grommets” I simply cut Home Depot paint mixers and glued them to the ends of the webbing with contact cement. I sanded the wood grommets flush and screwed them onto the ends of a scrap piece of lumber that I had floating around in the garage. The photo shows a hanger I made with the same construction.
Nothing fancy, but they work and are fun to experiment with.
Next up is a hanging balsa strop.

Very neat idea. You could even make a cushioned paddle strop this way if you were so inclined.

That's a clever idea and one I'd have never thought of.

Nice one Brian! I have some linen material I've been using, and have enough to build something like this.
