    Default strop dressing question

ive been hearing about neatsfoot oil or mink oil to keep a strop supple. what i was wondering is if you can put doc martens leather conditioner on strop. I dont know what the difference is, I know that doc martens is mink oil based and if it's good enought to keep the leather on a pair of $200 boots supple, would it work on a strop?

I believe any quality leather conditioner should work just fine.

just make sure it is a conditioner and not a wax or waterproofer you want it conditioned not covered.

I've used a shoe care mink-oil compound on latigo leather without any issues.

I agree any leather conditioner will do the trick. Better if you can find one that does not contain any petroleum distillates because over time they will actually deteriorate the leather. The only product I've found that fits the bill is Bick.
