Thanked: 522Speaking of blind, has anyone ever tried to strop with their eyes closed. Blind peopl have heightened senses to make up for the lack of sight. Their sense of feel is greatly enhanced because of their blindness.
I have tried stropping with my eyes closed quite often and it does force one to use their sense of feel beyond what is normal. Closing your eyes allows you to feel the blade flat on the strop. Give it a try...........

Thanked: 522Stropping blind works and it seems nobody appreciates the concept of improving their sense of feel. I am glad I tried it and my stropping ability is all the better for it.

This has nothing to do with stropping however next time you are in an airplane close you eyes while in flight and without visual cues you will find you are aware of every slight motion of the aircraft.

Back around 1970 when I learned to fly, they would put a blinder hood on our head and then make us fly the plane on instruments only and I can assure you that we had no idea of the attitude of the airplane while we were wearing that hood. It was total disorientation.
You either read the instruments correctly and kept the aircraft straight and level or you didn't.
As far as stropping blind, you are not in motion when you are stropping and there is no danger of serious disorientation.
Keep your feet on the ground, dude............!
