Paddle strop questions
I just got my new Tony Miller 2 1/2" two sided paddle. It's honey brown leather on both sides.
Tony, fabulous work.
I have a couple of questions. I'll be using 1 and .5 micron pastes. How much should I use for the first treatment? I have a tube of each.
Also, how do you tell which side is which? I guess I could mark them or something, but I thought I'd see how everyone else does it first.
Can't wait to try this thing out.
Josh
Edit: Also, how do you store yours? I don't want to contaminate the paste or get it on anything...Last edited by JoshEarl; 12-04-2006 at 11:08 PM. Reason: Addition

I bought mine pre pasted, so I'm not
sure how much paste to use.
As far as marking goes, Tony stamps
the leather.
Perhaps some sort of label would work?
Even a small piece of paper and scotch
tape?
I just sit mine on it's edge in a small closet.
This has worked out fine.

Pepper the surface with a couple dozen of the tiniest dots you can manage and rub them in evenly. Let it dry before you use it. You can always put another coat on in a day or two after it dries if you want.
The pastes are slightly different shades of grey moving lighter as the grit gets smaller.
