It's basically thick nylon webbing. Same stuff on the shoulder straps of your gym bag, or back pack, ruck sack, ect. I have heard of guys using old seat belts, and cut up denim to strop too.

Gym bag ? O Great, there is a guy that always brings a gym bag with him, I take my stuff in a brown paper bag, so next time I will cut his straps off his bag, I dont like him anyway :-)

    "Five finger discount!"
Yeah, it's just about 1-2mm thick nylon webbing by however wide you need it. If you have a place that sells camping supplies around you you could try there sometimes they sell replacement straps for day packs and the like....worth a shot at least. Oh, and not sure if you guys across the pond have these, but we have military surplus stores open to the public...they always have random supplies like that. Hell, you may even find something else or better to try; of course if you do, you gotta keep us all in the loop...payment of sorts

You might try an upholstery store or go to a store that sells fabric and sewing materials as they may give you leads.

Unit is right though, you could get the replacement material to make your own strop, and save all the running around as well, but I'm sure if you looked around on the internet you could find a place in the UK, germany, even russia for that matter with cheaper shipping.
