Valentine & Yule 151 Strop?
My mother-in-law just showed me an old strop she has and I am curious if anyone here is familiar with the manufacturer.
One side is leather and the other is linen. The linen side has "IRISH LINEN" and "SILK FINISH" imprinted on it. The leather side has "A-1 EXTRA HEAVY SHELL" and "151 VALENTINE & YULE BARBERS SUPPLIES CHICAGO, IL" imprinted on it.
So, what do you know?

Thanked: 369Sounds like a great strop to me. Even better if it's in good, useable condition.
The Irish linen strop is one of the best made, and the shell, if genuine, is cordovan from the rump of a horse. A very good strop.
Could have been made by any of a number of strop makers (even Illinois Razor Strop Co), and imprinted with the barber supplies name. If Valentine & Yule are out of business, it would be rather difficult to track down where their strop was made.
Any pics?

Did she let you try it? Sounds like a top quality strop. Can we have pictures?
