Thanked: 220You've got to be an idiot ...
It's very easy to do when you're new at it, especially if you're going too fast. The razor gets flipped over before the change in direction happens. Nobody's perfect the first time at something, this could even happen to an experienced stropper who is in a hurry or distracted, either way it's a quick way to ruin your day, (and your strop)!

Thanked: 1just to let you know, no fresh nicks for a few days! the ones i have have not affected the stropping but i might try to tidy them up at some point with either a dab of glue or just trim them. thanks for all your comments. i clearly managed to hit a few nerves with this thread

Thanked: 485I actually nicked my strop quite a while after I'd started straight razor shaving, rather than as a beginner. I'd got TOO sure of myself and lazy I guess...
Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?

Thanked: 983I refuse to nick my strop for the same reasons as Carl used to nick his. I'm so sure of myself that I am lazy, that I absolutely refuse to have to make myself another strop!

You've got to be an idiot ...
I just switched to a modular paddle strop from a hanging strop made my life a lot easier...
