Cross pattern on a 2 inch strop
How important is it to preform a cross stroke when using a 2 inch strop? I usually do 25 laps on the tip and then 25 laps on the heel then try and finish with 15 (really slow) cross strokes. Id like to switch to around 30 cross strokes but am having a hard time not nicking my leather especially with any speed?

I think it's fine to do the razor in sections because you aren't removing metal. As long as you keep the spine flat and on the leather you should be good.
Start moving in the opposite direction as you flip. That should stop nicks.

Thanked: 369What I tell my firearms students is that stance, breathing, sight alignment, trigger control are all good things to consider, but can you put rounds in the ten ring? I don't care if you are standing on your head and spining like a dervish, and breaking all the rules of good marksmanship, if you can still put your rounds where you want them to go, that's all that matters. (For illustrative purposes only. Do not try at home. Always remember the 4 cardinal rules of gun safety!!!)
Now apply that logic to your stropping. Are you achieving your desired results?Last edited by honedright; 02-25-2013 at 04:44 AM.
