Default timing of my stropping routine

In the interest of saving time in the morning, I tend to strop my designated razor the night before my shave. Anything wrong with that? Is it possible the steel edge can change overnight?

As long as its dry when you're done, it won't oxidize enough overnight to cause any problems.

I strop the night before also and have noticed no appreciable difference to doing it right before the shave.

Same here as far as the edge goes. I have noticed, though, that I strop better at night when all those muscles are good and warmed up. I've had some close calls when stropping in the morning, so tend to avoid it.

Except of course when there is a full moon and the gravitational effects from the moon cause subtle changes in the plasticity of the iron atoms in the razor. Oh yes this is a fact just like it also pulls the blood closer to the surface and you always get a closer shave during a full moon.

Excuse me I need to go take my razor out of the pyramid before high tide comes or you know what happens.

Thebigspendur is correct. You shouldn't think of your razor any differently than you think of any animate object. The work now being done at the Super Reactors shows this. Atoms are atoms! The ones in your razor are the same as the ones in you. Do you change during the nite? Then so does your razor.

Yes, but you are not taking into consideration the quantum harmonics at my latitude; steel subatomic particles behave differently in the republic of Texas.

And thus at some point, you can no longer be held responsible for things you did in the past, because you were, atomically, a different you then (with a tip o' the hat to James Joyce).

I use em all, them strop em all every 2 weeks or so. I sit down on a Sunday and give them the attention they deserve and then they get back in line. They are well cared for while in line.
I have one of those pyramids too ! :<0)

In all seriousness, when Glen (GSSIXGUN) and most pro’s send a razor home that they have honed, it arrives with a coat of oil of their choice to protect the edge from oxidization.

While I do usually strop before I shave I have on occasion stropped the day before, but I ALWAYS oil the razor! But then again, I always dry the razor very well and apply oil after I’m done shaving! That includes my Friodur, as Stainless Steel does oxidize, it just takes a little while longer, and it’s not that long!!
