Thanked: 13249Poll: How often do you Re-paste your Leather strop
I was doing some thinking from an e-mail I recieved this week about pasting a leather strop..
The question was asked, how often do you re-paste your strop, or add paste to the strop. I thought about it and wanted to do a poll using the two most common components
A Leather strop and CrOx paste, so take a second and think about how many razors do you strop, before you feel the urge to add new paste to the leather..
If you are only stropping 1-2 razors then think about how many sessions those hit the strop before you feel it needs more paste...
Thanks for the responsesLast edited by gssixgun; 06-12-2013 at 05:20 AM.

No 'I have no pasted strop' option?

I've never felt the need for a pasted strop, but what do I know?

Thanked: 1371I have two strops pasted with crox. Both were pasted in December of 2009 and have seen A LOT of razors. I have not reapplied paste; as far as I can tell, they are still working.

I don't use pastes. I have some, I think, if anyone wants them for free. I had some diamond spray but threw it out.

Gentlemen,
I pasted a strop several years ago and was not impressed with the results. I have not used paste since.

I put CrOx one time a year and a half ago and have not reapply since. Use it less these days, but still use it occasionally, every month, at least once or twice. Double O

I didn't vote because there is no applicable choice for my circumstances. I have a few pieces of balsa with diamond paste, a flatbed with chrom-ox, a Livi loom with chrom-ox, an SRD HandAmerican felt hanger with diamond spray, and finally a Tony Miller 4 sided paddle with paste. All pasted or sprayed when I originally got them years ago and never re-pasted/sprayed. OTOH, I almost never use anything but the Livi loom and that rarely. That old Escher yellow-green delivers the goods so I don't need to go to the other stuff.

I put every 25 razors. That is if I used this method regularly. Lately I'm liking the results I get straight off of the stones so I usually go from them to leather. Now, I go to a pasted felt strop, occasionally and only for fun.
