    I have it and use the slate like a barber hone. Mine seems to be more in the 8-12k range. It's a very nice piece.

    So what's your method for using the hone?

    I use it dry doing 10 to 15 laps for touch ups. Then strop and shave. If I use it as a finishing stone I probably do 30 laps typically. Then strop and test.

    I assume it's a smaller stone, so you would be doing X strokes on the hone? Also, I'm assuming it needs to be lapped?
