    Default USP Slury-StarShaving

    Decided to go with diamond over chrome, no reason why, just grab this to push order above 100 to get 10% from star shaving

    Light Application to my balsa strop i made, gave it a few minutes and did 5 passes with the razor. then 20 and 20 on my latigo/bridal strop.

    Had a pretty good shave for a newbie.

    Any one else had experience with this stuff?

    I think perhaps that description is possibly a mis-print...

    CBN= Cubic Boron Nitite one type of abrasive
    Diamond = Just that

    These are different in what they are, and how they cut

    I think you did good as cbn particles are round like crox. So just go with it. CBN is supposedly almost as hard as diamond(who knows, harder than carbon steel so it doesn't matter). When I use mine, I use hard wool on a paddle. No reason other than I had a hard wool felt paddle with nothing on it.

    It looks like a horrible cut and paste fiasco. The description goes back and forth between CBN and diamond so there is no way to know what is being sold.

    I got some CBN slurry from them, and probably some diamond, too.

    I am assuming that their slurries are aimed at lapidary users working on polishing facets, and those folks don't usually like a slurry to be as concentrated as we do for a spray slurry (as shavers).

    At least that's what I gathered from a stone faceter that I talked to.

    I was pretty disappointed when I got my bottle of slurries to find out there wasn't much in terms of abrasive in it, but I guess in reality, you don't need much. I don't use pastes and powders any longer, and thus haven't tried it yet (I got it also for sharpening tools, which you really want a heavy slurry for).

    If it improves your edge and you get a comfortable shave from it, that's all you need to know about it.

    (I live in Pittsburgh, so US products is more or less a local supplier for me. I still mail order it because it's a pain in the rear to drive anywhere around here if shipping is only a few bucks).
