Thanked: 15Polish?
So being in the military everyting made out of leather needs to be polished to be kept in good conditon, but my strop..... I dont think it would be a good idea to polish it with the regular wax and such, but would leather lotion help prolong the life of my strop?

Thanked: 498No dont condition your strop with conditioners especially like you were polishing a boot. Maybe once a year I put 1 tiny drop of Fromm strop conditioner work it in. and thats it. no more then that. But during everyday use I will rub the strop back and forth with the palm of my hand to work the leather and to put some natural oils from my hand into the leather.

Thanked: 3227+1 to the above but in my case I use a very small amount of Neats Foot Oil every now and then.

Thanked: 498When you put a conditioner on a strop it will drastically change the draw of the strop. Sometimes for the worse. Thats why the palm of your hand works the best cause it only puts a tiny, tiny bit of oil onto the strop, plus the heat generated while running your hand up & down also adds to the improved feel of your draw.
