    Hey Phrank,

i have one. It is my first decent strop and still a favorite of mine. I would say it has a medium to heavy draw or it has the heaviest draw of all the strops I own. (The Roo, paddle, and bridle by SRD in the fold).

The 827 takes a little effort to break in but when it does it is a fine strop. I used a glass bottle and a little shaving soap to break it in and of course stropping with a razor. I think it is 2 1/2 inches wide and comes with a white linen fabric. The linen fabric is great IMO. You can tell very easily when it needs to be cleaned.

Just have to rub the leather with your palm to maintain it.

For the price I would recommend getting one. I have seen them on sale for less than $40 US plus S+H. You just need a little patience on breaking it in.

I also have found that if you are too aggressive on the strop it seems that certain razors can become a little harsh IMO. A lighter touch works just fine but then again a slightly duller blade might be brought back into shape by aggressive stropping. (Disclaimer: I am by no means an expert stropper! Maybe some other citizen chime in with their expertise).

    Enjoy!

    Thanks! You decided me!

And yes, that's the one, 2.5" wide and with the nice linen on the other side.

Ordered one from the Classic Edge with the recommended Fromm Strop Dressing, say's to apply a little with a soft cloth and rub in with the heel of your hand then let it dry for 24 hours.

The two strops I have both seem very light on the draw, even with the constant palm rubbing...I had heard good things about the Illinois and I appreciate your help!

    Will get here Tuesday!!
