Default new homemade strop light surface wrinkles

Hello I have a new raw leather veg tan strop. In my excitement I rolled the stiff leather smooth side out and put light surface wrinkles in it. I have used the shower steam and lots of handling and removed the texture of wrinkles .. I've used it and love it better then my prev jean strop. My question is, I want it smoother BC it does still have an uneven surface. I have 2000 grit sandpaper and lexol conditioner. Should I sand, clean, and then condition. Or condition first then sand if needed? Any help would be awesome. I guess I'm one of those " always looking for the best shave" guys.

Usually uneven areas like that are taken care of using a variety of methods. Putting it under a pile of books or weights, Hanging with weights attached and sometimes soaking in water and slowly letting it dry. Sanding might work depending on how far down the wrinkles go and how thick the strop is. Whatever you do the imperfections have to be addressed first.

Issue was resolved simply by adding some lexol conditioner. But that caused waves in the leather so its between my mattresses straightening.. Thanks for the advice guys.

You have to be careful sanding. If you go through the epidural layer you get suede. :<0)

I want to add something slightly abrasive to the back of my strop. I have 2k wet/dry paper. Which I have not tried on my razor. Or the blue jean strop or strip as it may be. But I don't know what kind adhesive to use. I know to use a tiny bit.
