Default Felt? Webbing? Balsa? CrOx help...

I have 3 razors in my rotation and 1 is beginning to pull. I currently only have one strop, a SRD paddle strop w/textured leather. When it comes to the CrOx, which I believe is the solution to touch up my razor, what's the best combo? There's so many options it'll make a noobs head spin... Crayon? Paste? Spray? Which should be put on what? And which, if any, works best?

My preference is liquid CrO paste, at the 0.5u or less particle size, applied to a 3 x 3 x 12 inch balsa block. The CrO embeds into the balsa, which sheds very little green powder while in use. I cannot say the same for my linen and leather CrO strops.

I use crayon style sticks for my buffing wheel. They don't apply very well to linen, leather, or balsa, and the particle size is typically more variable than liquid pastes. I have not used a spray.

    Good Luck

In my experience, the sprays work best on the Felt product. The natural cushioning of the felt provides excellent results. I like the chromium oxide crayon on the poly webbing fabric, cotton fabic and even the back of the leather strop. They key to using these products is to apply is sparingly and use light pressure with stropping strokes. I have never been a Balsa fan although some like it. Normally, you don't need more than 10 light strokes to refresh an edge or finish an edge after the stones.

    Have fun

I use spray on a felt paddle. It works good for me. I recently pasted a webbing strop with a CrOx crayon but haven't had a chance to use it yet. I also have diamond spray on the scrub leather for the paddle but I prefer the CrOx

I'm leaning towards the felt and spray. Is there a cheaper way than spending $50 on a new strop? I like my paddle and have never used a hanging strop.

I find that felt works best for me. I have the SRD 3' felt/linen combo with an application of SO.

I find it perfect for touch ups.

I use one of those ~$5 ebay strops for stropping with chromium oxide. The shipping was anything but quick however the price is difficult to beat.
