    Default Kanayama #80000 Pickup

So after my visit to Kanoyama Strops last week (story and photos HERE), I went back to pick up my finished #80000 yesterday. Here are a few photos. The first one is my eldest son, Raiden, with the new boxed up strop standing with Naomi-san in front of his home and place of business.

#80000 (left) next to #2196 (right): The #80000 is less shiny, but significantly more supple!

#80000 (left) next to #2196 (right): Slightly nicer hardware on the #80000.

It's hard to see from the photo, but in hand the #80000 feels significantly thicker, heavier, and more supple than the #2196, an excellent strop in its own right. The draw is a bit heavier and a lot more rich feeling. Additionally, stropping on the suede feels amazing!

#80000 (top) and #2196 (bottom), both sitting on the black protective case.

I am afraid if I had a signed one it would go in an argon filled hermetically sealed case in a vault somewhere. Nice strop !

Haha! No, that is definitely not my bike! My nice bike is a Cannondale CAAD10. My city bike is a Giant. And, this truly is cycling Nirvana here! I'm out in the mountains on my CAAD10 every weekend!

A pal of mine (a prominent builder) has a Nagasawa. I have watched videos of Nagasawa brazing his frames. I braze mine too. My first adult bicycles were Cannondales (long time ago). Now I must ride.

Thanks for sharing the entire story Pete. You have had a once in a lifetime opportunity to not only acquire one of the finest strops in the world but meet the master craftsman in person as a part of that opportunity. Enjoy that sweet strop. The finish that Kanoyama puts on that leather is just amazing.
