Default You can make your strop

This strop is by no means the quality you can get from many of the vendor here, but it is working well. Because I do not have much invested, less than $10, I don't cringe when(Notice I did not say IF) I nick it with the razor.
As time goes by and my skills and budget increase, I will "graduate" to higher quality.

I bought a Farmers Bundle pack of leather from Hobby Lobby which included a lot of scrap pieces of different sizes. A couple of eyelets from the same place an I am in business.

All I did was trim up one of the pieces in the pack and fasten the eyelets.

Keeps my razor shave ready! You may want to give it a try.

Pictured with the strop is the AWESOME razor I won from the March Give AWAY

Sweet! Well done man. I don't know what it is about straight razors, but it totally gets you in the mood to work with leather. I got into making tote bags and razor cases.

Well done! If it works for you, it works! A friend of mine told me early on "pretty doesn't shave" and those are true words indeed.

You started out with the key words. I also made a strop and it worked just fine. It wasn't up to the quality of a professionally made strop but it wasn't far off as far as the workmanship goes. Where the real difference was noticable was in whatever the pros do to treat their strops. Tricks of the trade that the strop makers keep to themselves I guess. Nice job and for $10.00 you can't go wrong.

Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I love tinkering with stuff and coming up with tools that work for virtually free. Some old jeans of mine were torn and unwearable, but I made a strop from a strip of the denim. It works great for me.
