yeh I have the English Bridle "Big Daddy" it is the first & only strop I have & it works fine, you do need to break them in a bit first, but they do come with some instructions "now" on this with your strop whern you get it, it does go into the detailes on the site also somewhere.
if you search some previous threads for Big Daddy strop you should find the details pretty sure it was late last year.Saved,

Found the post here you go hope it helps
when I got mine I found it was as stiff but the following is recommended by Star shaving,
[Quote]
For Best Results use water and soap on the leather, such as your shave brush with shave soap. Also use the palm of your hand to rub the leather strop occasionally to help keep the leather pliable. When the leather is not pliable use Neatsfoot oil and when the leather is dirty use Saddle soap. Use a lint roller to keep the Felt strop clean. We have replacement leather or felt for the strop if you ever need to replace the leather or felt part of the strop for any reason such as cuts put into leather or felt strop from stropping. That is why we use Chicago screws in making the strop so that the strop can be worked on easily if ever needed. [Quote]
After I did the soap & bottle trick also improved tremulously more than just the hand rubbing.
I don't remember getting this information sheet with mine but my nephew got the same info as above from their site when he bought his not long ago
Cheers DSaved,

I just got the 2" bridle leather strop and couldn't be happier. It took just a few days for it to arrive. Very prompt. Excellent strop with removable hardware and for only $15.99 it was a great value. I would highly recommend.

What a curse be a dull razor; what a prideful comfort a sharp one

I have read that the Frank Shaving brushes are good for the money, but I don't know first hand. The strop I think is worth it. It will do its job and it doesn't cost alot so if you cut it up it isn't that big of a loss. Good luck.

Thanked: 4826I have very few brushes, but they are all franks shaving brushes. My big 28mm or so silver tip is actually fairly floppy. My little black badger is better, in fact it is my go to brush.

I'm very happy with my big daddy strop. Star strops are a great value for their cost.

Thanked: 2I was wanting to get one of their razors, too. However, they are Giesen & Fostenoff or whatever the name is.

Thanked: 18I just ordered a burgandy 3 inch bridle leather one today. I hope I get it in a timely manner. I'm hoping for the best.I just stropped my new dovo yesterday on my 2 inch strop (both from srd) and nicked it up.......I hope my second shave attempt goes OK now but I have a few more "shave ready" razors in the mail heading my way. I'm hoping this strop is decent but I'm sure my butchering skills will not help ! :')

Thanked: 4826Slowing down a little may help. Kind of like learning to type, accuracy first, speed later.
