    Question Diamond Sprays?

I was looking at the modular strop system from Straight Razor Designs and I have no experience with diamond sprays.
What would be your recommendation on the particle size(s)? .25, .5, 1.0, 2.0? Which combinations work best?

For me, I have found that the .5 micron diamond spray works the best on hard pressed felt.

    YMMV,

That's what I use on the felt pad on my SRD modular strop.

As of yet, nothing. I may tru a paste on it at some point, just not high up on my to do list at the moment. I have a TON of projects, an ongoing list of chores, a wife, full time job, and twin toddlers. I'm lucky I remember to brush my teeth

What are you trying to accomplish with the Diamond Spray?

    Building an edge or maintenance?

Diamond can be harsh depending on the source of Diamond Spray and the substrate.

As said Diamond works well on Felt and also Nylon and paper. .25 and .50 work well for maintenance, but not daily.

CBN, Cerium or Ferris Oxide are better for daily use.

For the most part, maintenance. The set comes with .5 diamond and the option of extra bottles of the other sizes at a discount. Just wondering what people use/best practice.

When I first tried the .25 I did not like it, now with it on pressed wool felt I do but so far only on my harder steels.
I will use it on things like my Dovo's, Genco's, Torrey's and the like but still prefer the CrOx on the English steels.

Some say it leaves a harsh edge, I have found a good stropping linen/leather settles that right down to a nice shave for me.

I use the .5 diamond or .5 crox spray in hard felt sometimes. I prefer shaving straight off of a natural finisher but if I didn't have that option I would use either. For me the diamond is a little harsher of an edge but if I do a good 100 laps on leather after the spray it usually mellows it out.

I love the diamond sprays from SRD, both .5 and .25. I use them with the SRD modular strop on hard felt. I use them in a progression after 1um lapping film and also for maintenance.
