Tarkus - very interesting device, you obviously think very highly of these, how in your opinion does it improve on stropping using a hanging strop, or as mentioned, a regular paddle / modular strop?
Dont get me wrong theres always a place for my hanging strops. For instance I use a hanging when I have a razor with a smile Then I use the narrowest hanging strop I own. And for some odd reason very narrow width razors 1/2" give me fits on a Lipshaw. I tend roll the razor.

I do like it a lot Tom I cant compare it to the rubberized diamond panels. That stuff has a very glide feel even though its got all that grippy daimond patterns in it. If I can use a example { With the rubberized diamond panels the razor skids over the panels being so rigid & stiff, where as with the textured Russian its more like a normal leather feel with its silky glide, a warmer feel if that makes any sense.
It always felt that the rubberized diamond skins always felt like there was something imbedded in it. A very noisy panel as well.

Twin lipshaws below and one above - I get the feeling it is not going to stop there...

$40 though - what a steal for such a useful bit of kit. Like a loom sstrop, but better, way better.

The russia calf has a very regular pattern impressed in it - I have been using it as a hanging strop pre-strop for a while now, and it gives nice edges. The point in using it was that a paste or some such could be applied and the pattern would hold onto it well. That is next on my to-do list.

After I have made a lipshaw of my own, that is... sigh, Tarkus and Tom, the Terrible Ts, turn out to be stealthy enablers. I should have seen it coming...

    Regards,
    Neil
