Default Newbie needing opinions on a strop setup

Ok so yesterday morning I had my first shave with a SR and I didn't cut myself but I didn't get a irritation free shave or as close as I would like. I think that was pretty good for someone just starting out with a SR. Anyway on to the topic at hand. So I bought my razor and poor man's strop from Whipped Dog. Ever since I placed the order I have been thinking of how to hand the strop and any future strops that I upgrade to. I don't really have a secure place to mount the strop to so I figure I would go to the next best thing. I made up the setup that is in the picture. My idea is to put the rope around the middle door hinge on the bathroom door since it is less likely to move than a door knob. This is the best I could come up with. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreceated and let me know if this method would not be a good idea. I have yet to strop my razor. Thanks everyone.

I'm not sure what you're trying to show, but would like to help. Can you post a picture of where and how you're proposing to hang the strop?

Here you go. Sorry for the poor lighting. I'm currently at my parent's house but this is what I'm wanting to do.Name: IMAG1044.jpg

Thanks. That could work if there's enough room for your arms and the stropping motion. It wouldn't work in my tiny beach cottage bathroom over here on the coast.

Ok cool. Yeah if the bath room gets to cramped I figure I can always move the strop to a bedroom door hinge. Is there any other attachment methods that don't involve putting a hook in the wall?

The strop was made to self attach to a horizontal towel bar. drawer pull handle, or suchlike. But do that only when the towel bar is at the proper height as you did with the center door hinge.

Geezer I like your screen name lol. Yeah I understand that the strop is meant to be attached to a towel bar but my problem is that the one that I have is not that sturdy and don't want to take a chance of ripping it out of the wall but I might take a shot at it.

Yup! Thanx, I do understand and I did pull a drawer open trying that once't. I stayed at a motel where the towel bar was close to wast high, other wise I use your idea. I also bump the pin on the middle hinge up at home and some other places to make it easy to get a loop over and off it. And, yes I now have a counter high screw hook screwed deeply into a stud at a corner next to my counter top.
Have fun, you are doing the best thing to become a good shaver...you do think!

Bathroom suction cup safety handle for elderly/handicapped individuals cost around $10 and support around 150 pounds. I used one at first to decide where I wanted to permanently mount a ring to the wall.
I didn't get around to trying this one, buy a command hook for large pictures might work as well.

If you can hold the strop (leather) flat and the razor lays flat on the strop then you should be fine.
If you've not stropped before, watch a few of the vids here and start slow. I'd suggest laying your strop on a level hard surface to get the hang of flipping the blade at the end of the stroke and keeping the blade flat during the stroke.
