Default Remove chromium and diamond from felt

Hi guys, I was just wondering if there is an easy way to remove chromium oxide spray and diamond spray from a felt strop. Let me know any methods you know of.

Turn it upside down and beat it like a rug. Maybe a vacuum with a hose attachment ? I don't think you could wash it. IMHO, you'll never get it all out of there.

Easy answer - buy another bit of felt and toss the old one.

It's a hanging strop with 2 felt pads. One has chromium the other has diamond.

You can have everything, and still not have enough.
I'd give it all up, for just a little more.

I gave a friend a flatbed hone with magnetic base. Had a felt that I had treated with chrom-ox powder dry. Every time you ran a razor over it, even 5 years later a cloud of green would hang in the air. He told me he beat it over a trash bag and got a lot of the loose stuff out.

What is the problem with the felt ? Too much of a good thing ? IOW, why do you want to get all of it out ?

I've flushed leather strops with a pressure washer before (just wanted to see if it could be done ), but I don't think felt would hold up to that. Neil is right, buy a new strop or 5. You can put a larger grit size on the used ones.

Because I end-up spending much more time cleaning my kitchen counter-top after stropping on it, than I do while stropping on it. What a mess!
