I just upgraded to a 3x20" Neil Miller cordovan strop from a well used English bridal and the difference is remarkable. The craftsmanship is without comparison and the leather is soft and supple with a nice light draw. It is IMO a strop that puts the best possible edge on your blade. Worth every $0.01.

Received (after a travelling sabbatical courtesy of the USPS) my new Neil Miller Shell Cordovan and Linen XXLong strop just yesterday. I'd used a buddy's NM Cordovan 'n' linen strop a bit back and decided it was on my hotlist, and it's nice to have it in my grubby mitts.
I took some A/B photos of it along with a Kanayama #3 and #90,000 and posted here same.
The #3 is my workhorse. For my money, the best <$150 strop on the market. In fairness, I must say the 90K is a trailer queen, and has been used about once (), so I am not an authority on it's actual stropping behaviors. I can say, the one time I used it, is is silky smooth and did it's job admirably. It is quite beautiful to behold. The NM will be a Sunday strop. I've also used it just a couple times as of this morning. A slightly different draw than the Kanayama, maybe a bit heavier, or at least a different, deeper sound while stropping. Neil's is Horween Cordovan and the Kanayama Cordovan of the makers own finishing. And Neil's linen can only be described as magical. There is none better.
The appointments, attention to detail, and hardware on the NM strop are simply superior to the Kanayama 90K. The Kanayama is a simpler strop. no frills, all business. Neil's strop you buy to indulge yourself in the most effective and luxurious strop available.
If I had to make a recommendation as to which to procure in terms of collectibility I'd have to give the nod to the Kanayama first. Simply because, though still robust for a man who's nearly 90 years of age, I think the days of being able to place an order with Kanoyama-san are limited. Neil Miller strops will hopefully be available for a great time to come as Neil is too dumb to die and too mean to quit Disregarding Kanoyama-sans advanced age, based solely on the strop per se', it's the Neil Miller all day long.

I'm always on Neil's pointy end. I've grown rather accustomed to it...it barely hurts at all anymore
And yes Neil, I noticed that as well after posting the pic, and nearly made a snarky comment about the previous owners inability to cut in without making a frigging mess of things. I spent 15 years in the navy as a Boatswain's Mate (you know, the guys who paint the ship), five of those as a Chief. It was an affront to my sensibilities, and I should well have known it would be you who outed me. Right for the jugular Neil, hitting me where I live. You're like a junkyard dog. Does anybody else feel like sometimes "Regards, Neil" reads more like "You're a Dumbass, Regards, Neil"...?
I knew the "too dumb to die" quip would come back to haunt me. Touche' Sir.

Well, Mike. To be honest, Neil's pointy end over and over is a fine complement. If he did not like and respect you, you would see neither end! Besides, as standing, it probably cannot be seen....much!
Lovely job on the FWE, BTW. You have done it justice. I shall get to the 4/8 RanTanKarus you so generously provided myself soon. Hopelessly looking for those Devil scales!"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.
