Richard what type of thread do you use or is it twine of some sort? The leather is 1.5 inches wide I suspect 3-4 stitches would work? I think I'm gonna make another loom from scrap and make it very large. I was thinking 2.5x14 inches for stropping area. Hopefully it will be easy to find everything I need at Home Depot. If you guys have any other hints or tips about making a loom strop I would really appreciate them. I'll try to take pics of me constructing one from scratch and write up a tutorial since I have not found any and the next fellow like me will have some foundation to work off of.
Addition: Richard have you ever considered using a stapler to make your pilot holes? The original leather was actually stapled and then an adhesive strip was added. I figure I staple the leather together then remove each staple and replace them with thread. What do you think?Last edited by aa1192; 07-22-2014 at 01:47 AM.
Razor rich, but money poor. I should have diversified into Eschers!

I applied shave lather with a boar brush, let it sit for a bit, and the wiped it clean with a cloth. I kept that up until the lather stopped turning brown and then lathered the strop let the soap dry til I could hand rub it. The leather didn't seem dry enough to need anything more like Neats. I did use a scrub brush on the fire hose component but not a very stiff nylon brush though; think toothbrush stiff.

Strop does not look too bad. You can give it the oil from your palm several times and it may be good to go.
