Roo leather strop?
Anyone tried these? I got one from SRD yesterday and tried it out... not as good as my older english bridle, but it does seem easier to strop with because of the thinness/flexibility. Do roo strops take time to break in like the others?

I bought one of SRDs roo strops and it took me a little while to figure out if I liked it or not . I had been using the English bridle myself. It seemed to me the roo didn't have any draw I could feel. I have learned to like it a lot since. Maybe better than the bridle leather.

I purchased a SRD 3" Roo strop with the 100% felt pressed backing and it's a superb strop. The 3" is nice, however still use the X stroke to ensure blade coverage, very thin, fine leather. Excellent strop IMO.
Takes some time, like all strops to work in.
I find that the 100% felt backing is excellent, first few times I used it puff's of white powder would surround the strop and stick on the blade, it's a mild abrasive, maybe like chalk, which reminded me of the Dovo Grey/White paste which I used on the linen side of my first strop, serves nicely after a shave before hitting the leather. That's the combo I selected, and it's a great product IMO.

My friend double0 has the SRD roo strop and I tried it once when I was over his house. No draw and very fast. He loves it. I could learn to like it but I do prefer a bit more draw. The SRD premium 1 is more my preference. I think it is a matter of working with it for a week or two and seeing if you get used to it.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
