Default An Ode to English Bridle

So in the spirit of becoming a permanent straight razor shaver, I ordered a new Premium IV English Bridle strop from Lynn to replaced an older, nicked-up red latigo on which I learned. The latigo was a nice strop, but I felt like trying an upgrade. I've been focusing on edge maintenance lately, and for some reason I didn't feel like I was getting great touch-ups on it...

Well, the English Bridle arrived today, and my first reaction was "WOW!" The leather on this thing is absolutely gorgeous--supple and sexy. A few natural grain marks that really add to the character of the strop. Where the latigo was somewhat waxy and firm, this is natural and buttery smooth.

20 passes on the premium fabric, a few firm palm rubs and 60 passes on the leather--MUCH less draw than the latigo, but oh so velvety. Where my edge after one shave wouldn't pass the HHT after 60 passes on the latigo, I grabbed a hair off of my brush, touched it to the edge and *PING*...like a laser beam.

I knew I would like the upgrade, but I would go so far as to say that this is best purchase I've made since I started. A true heirloom.
