Default Shell Cordovan and Flax Linen

Just received a new strop a couple of days ago. Very excited about it, so I wanted to share. It’s a 3” wide Shell Cordovan and genuine Flax Linen strop. Made by a very nice, accommodating guy in the U.K. named ‘Alastair’. The strop looks very handsome, and works just •great•! The Cordovan has virtually no draw (which I like) and the razor just glides over the leather. I find myself doing pass after pass, just for the pleasure of it ;-) I see now why some people say they get in a ‘Zen-like’ state when they strop.

I’ve included a couple of pics of the strop. Let me know what you think. BTW, if your interested in seeing some of his work, Alastair (the strop maker) operates off of his FaceBook page. Just search for ‘Westholme Strops’.

Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

Thanks, Hirlau. Yeah, I got kind of lucky on this one. I feel very happy, and maybe a little spoiled ;-), owning something as nice as this. It’s amazing to me how much more enjoyable, and how much better I feel stropping on this strop.

    Thanks for the comment.

Yeah, no more ‘stuttering’ up and down the strop. Like you said, it’s just plain smoooooth ;-)

Size: 12.0 KBNice strop! I also just bought a custom genuine Horween shell cordovan strop from Alastair @ Westholme Razor Strops. He is great with communication and a very nice guy. He is all about the quality and giving the customer a good experience. I wish a lot of other makers were like that! He is talented at what he does. I do not know what else to say, he is the real deal for strops, i even got my initials in it, like bruseth said, you can find him on facebook.

And your initials are, ‘RF’, aren’t they ;-) I saw your nice looking strop on his (Alastair’s) FB page. What a small world. You are a member of this forum. I guess I shouldn’t be too surprised. It’s probably natural that someone interested enough in wet-shaving to buy such a nice strop, would also be a member here. Great strop, isn’t it? I feel kind of silly admitting it, but I find myself stropping several times a day, even when my razors don’t really need it. Goofy, huh? I never realized how nice stropping could be, till I got this strop.

Good luck with your new strop.
