    Default New replacement leather

Hi everybody ! Well I think I might have jumped the gun just a little. I "thought" my 2" red latigo srd strop was getting too beat up. So I ordered the replacement leather. Got home from work and stropped the heck out of my razors. (I have like 8 in my rotation and just grab the next in line and throw the used ones in my shave box to strop later). Well I had some of the best shaves so far from my "old" strop. The razors were just wicked sharp and smooth. In the meentime my new leather arrived. (With some witch hazel I wanted to try). So now I have to break in the new leather and figure out what I want to do with the old leather. I know (NOW) that with a light sanding it will be just fine. Wish I could blame this on crown royal lol but its more splurge buying than anything. So anybody have any suggestions on what to do with the old one ? Thinking about ordering a D ring and visiting Tandy for a scrap of leather and just making one with the leather. I really don't know if I should stick with the old one or go threw the hassle of breaking in the new one now.

If the old piece is working I'd keep using it and pack the new piece away as a spare.

Be careful of sanding back the old piece - if you found stropping on it has worked it probably doesn't need sanding to be effective (aesthetics are another matter I guess). If you sand and are not very careful to decontaminate the leather from any embedded sandy bits afterwards your strop may end up damaging your razors.

Yes I have sanded it before. Like two weeks after I got it. It needed it at that time after what I did to it lol. I think at this point it pretty much is aesthetics more than anything. I usually keep that one when I go away for work and use my big daddy at home. It really is a nice looking strop (minus the nicks) hardware wise, and now with the new replacement leather it's like new.
