    Default Double sided strop rigging.

Gentlemen I have a double sided Russian Leather Paddle strop. The leather is a fine leather and it is exactly the same on both sides. I want to fix (not damaging) some felt to the back side of the strop. I do not want to damage the leather at all but I need some ideas on how to rig it so the felt attached on top of it safely and securely. Glue is out of the question for sure. Has anyone done anything like this before if so what gives the best results? Thanks.

    Scott

I can post many, through a little ingenuity I have managed to get the felt the right size as the strop I've documented the procedure now I am looking for ways to bond it without ruining the leather underneath...

Double sided tape is the first thing that comes to mind. Any residue after talking it off might clean up okay. Has to be something that doesn't soak into the leather. If it's a hanger why not get another piece of leather paste it to that and just add it into the hardware ?
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

I have a strop that I bought from a vendor with Leather on one side, and Felt on the other.

The two materials are not bonded together, but they are held together with rivets at both ends of the strop. The end result works works well if you don't mind having only 2 stropping surfaces instead of 4, which seems to be the case based on your post. Alternatively, if you want the option to have more surfaces later (for pastes maybe...) then just use the rivets at the end nearest the attachment hook, and use two separate handles. When you use the strop, ensure you hold both handles together, to prevent the loose strop from swinging and twisting the other one.

I've never done any rivet work myself, but I'm sure any leather repair business could help...

    Hope this helps!
