    I am a linen man. Can't say why for sure. I've tried cotton, poly web and linen. Linen just feels better to me.

    I tend to prefer linen as well.
    That said, the SRD backing that looks like a car seat belt, does work really well.

    I suppose it is just the traditionalist in me that prefers linen.
    A lot of other materials will get the job done, no question about that.

    Buy one from Lynn ( aka Straight Razor design) it is a noisy sucker but believe me it works. I also have a Tony Miller and it is a bit quieter but I don't see much difference in the end result. They both work very well. I washed them in the sink with dish detergent and they are much quieter and softer

    so what was your final choice Slasher for maker of the strop & is it Flax Linen??
    I am seriously leaning towards a Scrupleworks for a new strop in the new year

    I have had fine results with CrOx crayon crosshatched on 2 7/8" seatbelt webbing. Noisy at first, it quiets down with more continued use and a lighter touch.
