    Jerry (MrSell63 of StraightRazorPlace) has made quite a number of posts about the use of iron oxide, and he found it to be very useful.

    Optical grade iron oxide (and other abrasives) may be found here :

    I got mine from an Australian supplier but the Kremer part numbers are the same

    I use the same exact powder to paste a balsa paddle strop I made and it works better than anything else I have tried so far including CBN and diamond spray. I have never made a crayon from it though. That sounds interesting.

    I'm confused, but where is the Iron Oxide in that page? I see Aluminum Oxide but not Iron. Thank you.
