Thanked: 7Is this a decent strop?
I was asked to look for a christmas present for myself. The first thing i thought was a legit scuttle or strop. I think i will go with a new strop.
I currently own 1 strop, it closely resembles this
Professional Barber Leather Strop Straight Razor Sharpening Shave Shaving Strap | eBay
I like it, but i am not fond of the 2 inch width. I have to strop in a figure 8 to get each section. It would be nice to not have to. So i was looking for something similar but with 3 inches width, same or more length.
I was looking at:
Amazon.com: Light Natural Leather Latigo Shaving Strop Sharpener Straight Cut Throat Shaving Razor Leather Strop 3" Wide & 24" Long Sharpener Belt: Health & Personal Care
Its 30 dollars. I was wondering if this is worth it or if for example for 5 dollars more i could get something better that i am unaware about, etc.

I think 20" and 24" O.A. length would be a bit small for me.

Thanked: 7The one i am currently using is OA 18", 1 7/8" wide, and the leather is 10 3/4" long.
This to me feels like increasing the length

I have no clue as to the quality of the strops in the links, but for a few dollars more you could get one from here. Leather Hanging Strops I have one and can't complain. The one I got was the Big Mama, but it measured 2 7/8" wide instead of 2 1/2". Not sure if that is how they all are or if mine was just weird. It does exactly as it is meant to do. I'm sure that there are others out there and maybe someone will post some other ones. I noticed today that I only actually use about 13" of the stropping surface and it seems to work for me. Don't get into the habit of wanting to try everything that is out there because it can and will get addicting I know.

Thanked: 7wow 21 inches stropping area? Would i need that much? It seems quite excessively long to place in the bathroom. Or maybe i am just use to my short thin cheap one.

Mine measures 21" from screws to screws. Like I said I only use about 13" of the surface to strop. You could always shorten it down if you wanted. The screws make it versatile.

Thanked: 7As much as i would like those, i got the one from amazon, solely because of a 10 dollar gift card on the account and amazon prime for speedy free shipping. I will notify you if its good, but i dont have anything solid to compare it to.
Thank you for the info.

That strop looks a lot like the one I got for some new guy at the shop. Amazon.com: Garos Goods 3 Inch Leather Barber Strop Strap with Gold Dollar Razor: Health & Personal Care I can tell you they are for beginners and not made with high quality materials. $30 is to high, this one came with a Gold Dollar razor and was $24
