In short, he does know what he is talking about, and used to offer a free honing to any of his critics. I never heard a complaint or that he cannot put a fine edge on a razor. He is one of those guys, like some of us pushing the edged of honing, it is how we improve this hobby.

A fine edge is what it's all about but his videos seemed a little obsessive about bevel cosmetics to me.
I've been down that road & see it more as a side effect rather than a goal.
