Elk Shell Barber's No. 1
Came across an Elk Shell strop in an antique store today. Looked to be in unused condition. Leather strop had a picture of an elk and the words "Elk Shell" by the top of the strop. It had a linen strop attached, almost like a heavy waxed canvas, which was hard to read but said something like "Professional" or "Barber's" and "No. 1" on it. I should've gotten pics.
Anyone know anything about them? Price seemed reasonable to me, especially since it seemed unused (or used very little). Is Elk Shell any good? Worth picking up and using? I guess I'll have to research linen strops some, I've never used one of those.

Thanked: 4828If it is in good condition it is likely going to work well.

OK. I wasn't sure if it was some cheesy off-brand to avoid or something. Thanks!

I've had an Elk Strop. It worked like all the other strops made from all kinds of critters. As long as it's a quality piece of leather you will be OK.
