Thanked: 45Portland Razor Co. New Strop
I have been staring at these for a little while, and once a great change was made to the design, I pounced. The value for the $ spent is outstanding. It has a medium to light draw and is beefy...nicely weighted compared to the Dovo small stop I was using. With this design, if I want to paste one side of the webbing in the future I certainly can and operate with ease. With D-rings on both sides and a removable loop hardware it can basically be manipulated any way the user wants! Big thanks to Scott for getting this to me so fast...I was not expecting it to arrive so quickly!

Thanked: 45I think I see where you are going with that one...and while I think the comment is perhaps a bit unwarranted and even smug...if I were so "smart" I might retort with;
I don't think anything truly original has happened in the straight razor world for the better part of a century.

Thanked: 3795I was not being smug. That design originated significantly less than a century ago.

Thanked: 45Without starting a battle, which I have no intent to do, nor desire to do so, what I was trying to point attention to was a slight design difference from most other strops on the market today which allows the relocation of the anchor point to either end of the strop making certain use cases for a pasted underside of the webbing easier...perhaps had my original picture been adequate my previous description would have made more sense...
I find it nice that there are numerous options on the market a Noob like myself might pursue, and I am often a contrarian of sorts...I often take the road less traveled. Just thought I would post up another option out there that is very worthy of consideration by straight shavers of all skill levels and tastes.

I'm a fan of D-rings at both ends also. I have a strop that had started to cup slightly and I bent the D ring a little bit to correct it.

Thanked: 270Very nice. There are so many great products out there, I wish I could try them all. I do think a quality strop makes a big difference in the shave. I strop both before and after the shave. I decided to try stropping only once, before the shave, and I noticed a noticeable difference in the keenness of the edge.
I respect strops because that was the aspect of straight shaving that took me the longest to master. If I have any problems with my equipment I'll remember this. Very impressive testimonial on your part!

I like your strop an I'm a big fan of PRC. USA made products from a small businessman. I guess when you start to experience success the competition begins to take notice.

I just bought a razor from PRC and all I can say is that it is exceptional! I have another "high end" straight that cost almost $100 more yet doesn't even come close in comparison.
Anyway, I haven't had the pleasure of sampling one of PRC's strops, but if their razors are any indication of the quality one could expect (which I'm sure it is), the strops will be equally exceptional. I kinda kick myself now that I didn't purchase one of their strops when I bought my razor - live and learn!
Anyway, that's my $0.02... If the design is similar to someone else's? Hey, it's a piece of leather and some bits of metal - the devil is in the details. It's not as if the straight razor is exactly the Mars rover - but even a simple thing done to perfection can be a work of love and a work of art.- Si vis pacem, para bellum
