Default Nicks on a new razor

So I just received my new Dovo. I shaved with it and loved it. Today before I shaved I stripped it for the first time. I noticed the tiniest speck of leather was sticking to the blade. Also it was leaving very light scratch marks on my brand new strop. After further inspecting the razor has a very small nick in the blade. Will this nick disappear after I strop it a few more times or did my razor come defected and should I contact the store for a repair or replacement.
    Thanks for your help

Where did it come from? Are you absolutely certain you could not have nicked it? It seems odd that you got a shave you loved with a nicked blade. There is usually some discomfort in that. And if it is scratching you strop I would expect that if it was there when you shave that would not have felt nice. Some food for thought.

I could have. Probably likely that I did but I don't know how I could have.

It came from straight razor designs. The nick is really small. I barely noticed it

I hate to say it but I really don't think leather will remove metal. If the nick is small then a re-hone would probably take care of it. If I did send it for a re-hone then I would let the hone master know of the nick. Doesn't SRD give one re-hone with a new razor.

A straight razor is a fine instrument. if taken care of the edge will last a long time but like all fine tools it can be damaged. and remember there are 2 types of straight razor users. those who have dinged a blade and those who are going to ding a blade. sooner or later it will happen to us all. (just my opinion) good luck.

I don't know how I dinged the edge before either but it was only in my hands so...
The edge is very delicate and needs to be handled with care.
I put a small folded hand towel down on the counter and my razor rests on that when not in my hand, even putting it on the counter without great care can effect your edge.

It is pretty common for people to nick up an edge. Happens to new folks all the time and they don't have a clue what happened. Happens to me still and I don't have a clue how it happens unless I drop one and then it's usually more than a nick. Usually, the small ones are easy to hone out.

    Have fun.
