Scrupleworks Swedish Bridle - Expectations?
It's not on its way just yet..
I ordered a Swedish Bridle strop from Torolf a few weeks ago and it should launch sometime in the next few weeks.
Will it need any break-in or prep work before it goes into service? And, what should I expect performance wise? For comparison, I have Scrupleworks Oil Tanned Horween Horsehide, Tony Miller Artisan Horsehide, Kanoyama Cordovan and SRD Latigo..---------------------------------------------------

Errrm...this is straight off the Scrupleworks website:
I prepare all the leather that goes into my strops. I want them to perform and I want them to feel good. I believe that you should have this feeling right when you open the package. So even though leather breaks in, I make sure the strop I send you is ready to go from the beginning. I test every strop that I send out.

The Swedish Bridal has a medium draw which responds to pressure used and whether or not you warm it up first. It breaks in nicely and is a deep dark green, very luxurious thick leather. I am using this leather only on 2" and 2,5" barber end strops combined with the brushed cotton component.

LOL... I suppose I am in denial. Don't we NEED all of these?
Truth told, I only wanted a Flax Linen as my current Scruppleworks has the cotton second and I really dislike it. I ordered the linen component by itself, and Torolf is matching the ends to my current strop. But the USD is so strong against the NOK, I figured there was likely no better time and ordered the Bridle strop by itself as well. Keeping the linen & leather separate this time.
Yes, I've read that, about a gojillion times. Just thought I would see if folks who have this strop had additional suggestions. The Horween Horsehide has what I would call a medium draw as well.---------------------------------------------------

Are Bridal strops for use only during weddings?

Mike,
I have owned a number of Tolorf strops and none has required any preparation. A hand rubbing before the first use is sufficient. I must say, they are beautiful strops.

Mike,
I was just wondering, as you already own one of Torolf's strops, that's all. I apologize if I came across as condescending, it was never my intention. I have a Scrupleworks cowhide and like Obie, a good rub every now and then has kept it in great shape for a couple of years now (NOTE: not that I've ever rubbed Obie). Enjoy your new strop, you seem to have quite a line up there!
