I have read that and do not agree 100% - mighr be OK for his strops, not mine.

As to what treatment - depends on the leather and how it was cured. That is a broad subject and one I do not intend to go into (yet again).

The answers can all be found in the archives of SRP - it is one of if not the most extensive databases around. Also, I do not like giving advice on other peoples products. Surely they are in the best position to advise - if they know more about their trade than just joining leather and canvas together.

Fair call and good point. Many different treatment processes and all could lead to different answer. Unfortunately I tend to buy strops who's maker's aren't around any longer to ask. Time to read a bit.

In the past when I've had vintage strops of various kinds and they had issues with folds and creases that wouldn't come out through the usual methods the nuclear option of soaking the strop in water always seemed to work. The negative is the marks left on the strop. I've never been able to get them out no matter the type of strop.

You could always buy a brand new strop and hang it over the old one. The stains may still be there but they will no longer be visible.

I actually have two strops hanging in my bathroom at the moment. One brand new covering my "less than new" strop.
