Thanked: 0Buffalo leather Homemade strops
Saw buffalo strips for a really good price ~$25-30, 2 1/2'' wide, the strops are 20'' long and the 3rd is 23 1/2''
Smooth on both sides (maybe put some crox on one side?)
Pictured is the first one i did (putting off the other 2, want different d rings or another type of hanger.)
First Time making these! What do you guys think?

Thanked: 0I just honed my wester bro's (on a 4/8k as i hit the razor on the sink, followed by .25 diamond, crox, and this strop) and it worked pretty good! its very slick feeling, low friction, and you can hear the metal a little more than my other strops (i may oil it a bit, or lather). Now I'm new to this, but I also have a torry I recently honed with a Coti, and i stropped it (used the crox on back as well) and thought I dulled it (couldn't hht), but that thing shaved a hell of a lot better than before.

Nice strop.
I'm going to be making my own as well as the components are readily available here. Whereas to purchase a decent one I'd have to import and that would be taking a chance with our notorious postal system.Tony
