    Default Oil for strop?

    I've seen a few people mention oiling their strop, but none of the intro or beginner guides I read or videos watched mention this. Is it an optional step that some people prefer, or is it mandatory? I got a razor/strop combo from SRD, if it matters (English bridle and mesh combo).

    It is unlikely that you will need to oil a new strop for sometime. Most just hand rub their strop for a little while before use and that is all it takes.
