    Just received this nice vintage shell horsehide strop:

    Can't wait for tomorrow morning's shave to see how it does. If anybody knows anything the supplier or possibly the manufacturer I'd be most interested.

    Looks like it's in nice shape! Where did you find or get it? I would clean and treat the leather before starting to use it because it could have been neglected for years.

    Thanks. Lucked out on the Bay. It's very soft but fairy thick--at least in comparison to other horse shell strops I've seen. Rubbed it with a bit of neatsfoot oil and it's all ready to go.

    Be sure to wipe it at the least, with a clean slightly damp rag tonight. Do not wet it though. Some grit may be on it from storage or shipping that could raise heck with a nice edge!
