I know what I'd do in your position.
Strop on the smooth shiny side and forget about the rough side.
After honing I go to the leather, after shaving I go suede then leather.

Don't need a strop on the North Pole, just strop on polar bears

Thanked: 2We'll give her another ride this morning and see how it goes. Another strop is in the very near future for sure. Still one of the best shaves I've had.

Thanked: 2Just wanted to keep up with the thread, I forgot this morning, but I have realized the so called "Tan side" is smoother and definitely what works the best. Another fine shave. Sorry to quiz you all on this random strop and another will be purchased soon. I hear SRP makes a good one?

Awesome that you are getting a great shave. Not sure however it was still meant to be used on that non-finished side but hey, if it works and there is no edge damage keep trucking.
