I found that out from adding water to try and hold some optical powder on to it.
Some spraying of Crox/Diamond spray wont hurt it though.

I'm considering dissolving the crayon in alcohol (so the strop wont mold like water may do.) but lumps is something I hadn't considered. I thought that with a good spray pattern the spray would lay down even like when I paint car parts..
I still have to play with the crayon before I get that far, but thanks heads up!!

When I say lumps, I don't mean clumps of spray, what I am talking about is when the compact felt gets wet parts of it become un compact and tend to puff out or up, so your felt is no longer flat but lumpy and bumpy. I had to throw mine away , I did try to iron it back flat but it didn't work.
Back then I was using super fine powders and I couldn't even set a bevel properly (fish)

You, may want to buy a sheet of craft felt and try it on that first. You can get a 12” sheet for about a buck, with a pva back for about 2. Cuts well to size with a paper cutter.

The craft felt works very well, by the way.
